Coatings Development Services

FOR ALL TYPES OF LIQUID COATINGS

Introduction

I am able to develop new formulations or update existing ones to make them compliant with the latest regulations and/or make them more economical to produce while improving performance.

Systems that I have worked on recently include:-

Rapid curing, high adhesion primer for bronze marine propellers.

Development of this product was inspired by the prohibition of zinc chromate primers in many ship and boatyards due to its toxicity.

This product is a high adhesion polyaspartic primer that is non toxic and cures quickly to allow vessels to be put back into service within 24 hours.

The primer has been developed for use with silicon foul release coatings which reduce fuel consumption due to their very low friction and foul release properties. The silicone coatings have excellent adhesion to the primer.

This product also has excellent adhesion to aluminium and other non ferrous metals. A similar formula is also available for ferrous metals.

Cold curing polyaspartic coating for new build ships ballast tanks and steelwork.

This product has been developed to provide rapid cure in winter conditions down to -6oC. It can be applied direct to clean steel and has excellent durability. It is solvent free and is virtually odourless

Formulas for this product are available in several variations that make it suitable for application by two component spray, standard airless spray or by brush or roller.

Superyacht propeller coated with Xymer non toxic primer and finished with silicone.
